Education / Training

Alan is extremely active as a professional drummer and drum teacher. His early training included private lessons in piano and drums with several respected teachers in the Boston, MA area.
His recent training includes intensive private study with award-winning drummer/educator Dale Baker (Sixpence None the Richer), and drummer/educator/clinician Mike Johnston (Simon Says, mikeslessons.com). Alan’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Bridgewater State College and a Master of Reading in Education degree from Boston University. |
Experience
Early in his career, Alan played drums and keyboards in several classic rock, pop, and new wave bands as part of the Boston music scene.
Since moving to the Raleigh area, he has performed at many local venues with several popular Triangle cover bands and is currently drummer for cover band Three Click Go. Alan is also in demand as a worship band drummer.
Teaching
Alan’s 30 years of experience teaching Language Arts to elementary, middle, and high school students in MA, VA, and NC public schools makes him uniquely qualified to help others learn and develop the “language” of music.
In addition to teaching private drum lessons in Apex, Alan has taught at a respected music school in Raleigh for the past several years.
